NalaNayla was just a pup, when some folks saw her tied to a tree in a front yard.
They asked the owners about her and were told that they had too many dogs, so they were "waiting for the SPCA to come pick her up." Nayla's rescuers made a decision that just was not going to happen, so they brought her home and asked STAF for help.
When Nayla arrived at the shelter, she was a tad on the wild side; she had absolutely no manners, was not at all housebroken, and did not know how to interact politely with other dogs. However, with STAF's super dog-volunteers on board, Nayla was taken to training, was paired with other dogs for playtime, and began attending doggy day care. She was growing into a beautiful young dog, but still her forever home did not come along... she remained a wild child. Months went by, and then a miracle happened. A family came to STAF in search of an energetic dog to play with four children! Nayla was the perfect fit, as evidenced by a lovely letter we received:
We renamed her Nala, like Simba's girlfriend in 'The Lion King'. She has fit right in and my five-year-old daughter told us, 'We are a family, now that we have Nala.' She is a delight! She and my husband are joined at the hip, and he takes her to doggie-training.
Nala loves the children, and makes sure to check on each one before they go to sleep. Our boys sleep in a bunk bed, and Nala puts her front paws on the lower bunk to check on my son in the top bunk, then checks on my other son on the bottom, and off to her bed she goes. It is the cutest thing I've ever seen!
Please let everyone at STAF know that we thank them from all 6 of our hearts for taking care of Nala. One of the best decisions I've ever made was visiting STAF that night in November :)
